Many of the things we worry about are pictures of our imagination. They tend to be “what if” situations which are not even bound to happen.

I often worry about questions I have not yet asked. This is due to the fear that I will not like the answer I find. However, upon reflection, I have realised that all this is doing is leaving me on edge and ignorant.

The problem with worry is that it is not an obvious problem. You could choose to be outwardly worried, but who does that? We often worry about ourselves quietly in our minds. We tend to live with our worries to prepare ourselves for the worst outcome. Although we cling to the hope that there is nothing to worry about, if we prove to be correct we do not want to be left stunned. So, we decide to live with the potential outcome of doom in our heads.

But today, I have found that letting go of worry requires three steps.

1. Imagine The Alternate Outcome
