3 Things We Must Unlearn As We Grow Old
The bitter truths we swallow as we age
Oh, how we all wish we could go back to being babies. They really all are living the dream, but they are just totally unaware of it. Getting pampered and fed all day and the best bit, they get to do whatever they want. It does not matter if it is risky or dangerous. It is not their job to look after themselves, it's someone else’s, so they have free rein to explore.
As we move out of our baby phase and go into childhood, we learn a bit more about the world. I have always been mesmerized by how quickly a child learns how to respond to fear. Babies are completely unaware of their surroundings, so when you raise a hand at them or do something that might put them in danger, they do not run or even flinch.
But children understand fear much better. They are adventurous and full of hope for life. They have big dreams, and even better, they believe they can achieve them all. Children can be whatever they want to be, and it is a great feeling.
However, as we age, our utopia gets ruined by puberty, knowledge, and big life decisions. We realize we can not be whatever we want, and in fact, the world is limited in resources. So we go about picking a career and try to find ourselves along the way. Oh yes, I forgot to mention, we will look for…
