Self Improvement
Consistent Growth is Not Hard
“Every success story is a tale of constant adaption, revision and change.”
- Richard Branson
In the beginning, we are persistent with our self-improvement as we are excited to see the results. The small habits do not seem like much of a drag, and we go round telling our closest friends the things we are implementing.
At the very start of our journeys, the vision of our best self is enough to keep us persistent. However, as time moves on, we start to realise that persistence is not enough. The ability to stick with something is needed, but it does not mean progress.
For a month, I dedicated myself to play the piano for 30 minutes a day. Despite my efforts, I made no progress in my playing. I left that month on the same skill level as before. Regardless of my persistence, the growth I sought did not come.
Persistence is a core attribute of our success. It keeps us going through times of change and difficulty. However, consistent growth is the only way we make progress, and it is not always the most comfortable thing to embark on.
The good thing about consistent growth is that the rate at which you grow is up to you. With that in mind, here is something I have learnt whilst becoming the best writer I can be.
