Good leaders understand that trust is essential to keep a team together. It ensures that the team maintain respect for one another. It also allows for good co-operation as team members are more likely to be open with each other.

However, trust is something that is built over time. I have found that the best leaders are able to grow others’ trust in them faster than usual. And this is because they possess these two traits.

Be Willing to Take Risks

All the friends you have in your life now were once strangers. We all had to take some risks in getting to know the people that mean so much to us now, and that is the same with leadership.

You must be willing to bet on your team member’s skills and expertise. By doing so, you entrust them with your goals and empower them to be the best they can be. By taking the initial risk to trust their skills, you set a base for a trustworthy relationship in the future.

Be Open With Your Time

Whenever starting a new relationship, you must make time for the person. Purposely putting time aside for them is the best way to show that you care about them as an individual.

Therefore, allowing your team to know your schedule and showing where you are purposely making time for them helps them feel appreciated. And in doing so, your relationship can become more trusting and valuable.
