Do You Know How Your Team Feel About Your Leadership?

One of the first things I learned about in my Master’s was the recursive model of thinking. Thinking in this way means we acknowledge our perception, take action and then understand the consequences of those actions to perceive our world better.

The model is powerful because the result can be used to improve our starting point. And it is often necessary to keep track of our results so we know what we need to change going forward.

When we think about others under our own leadership, we should keep the end in the mind. How we want people to feel and treat us should lead us to act in a certain way.

By treating those under our leadership like customers of our own product or service, we pay more attention to how we get our messages across rather than the intent of our actions.

By doing so, we can create a positive environment where individuals experiencing our management seek to listen rather than block us out.

So, think about how you get your messages across to your team and how they may perceive them.
