My pursuit of success as a student caused me to destroy my joy in learning. It was only until I left education that I regained my original joy in learning once more. Here are three things I did as a straight-A student that damaged my learning experience.

I Scheduled Too Much Time to Revise

Revising is a good thing, but spending too much time on it causes regurgitation. Due to this, I remembered a bunch of content without having any application of it. Unfortunately, this turned me into a robot that could pass an exam rather than a student that valued learning.

Spending more time appreciating the content will increase your capacity to learn and remember the lessons you are going through.

I Became Too Organised for Each Lesson

I would often have a rigid plan that allowed me to capture all the essential notes I needed for the exam. Although this is a good idea, it made me less engaged in class.

I only listened out to the key points the teacher made and did not engage with other intriguing content. Unfortunately, I lost my ability to be curious and, in turn, my passion for learning.

I Chose to Socialise…
