The evidence is clear that millennials and Gen-Z appear to not be staying in their roles. They are the most likely to switch roles and be open to new job opportunities. What is even worse is that they are also amongst the least engaged workers.

With the ever-increasing challenge to keep young talent in, companies are feeling the pressure. As a young worker myself, I can tell you one of the main reasons why we are so quick to leave. However, there is also a way I believe companies can counteract this.

The Loss of Young Talent

In a world with ever-increasing economic pressure, young people feel the stress to succeed. Not only is it harder, but there are also many ways to go. Being spoilt for choice leaves us indecisive, and at the same time, scared to make the wrong decision. This is why we do everything later, getting married, having children and settling for a career.

Settling down in one company is a scary thing to do. Especially when our expectations are not being met. For the most part, young workers are told they will have amazing jobs filled with leadership and career progression. In reality, we are sitting at our desks doing very mundane tasks.
