I was fortunate to be around a set of individuals that helped me when I was at the start of my career. I have them to thank for much of my progression. However, there are three things I did to put me in the best position upon joining the company.

So, here are the three things I would advise graduates when starting their first role at a company.

Look for Work That You Find Interesting

As a young and fresh talent, companies are willing to be flexible for you. So, seek out opportunities outside of your current role and find things that interest you.

In doing so, you will build your connections and gain more knowledge about the company.

Be Open With Your Manager

At the start of your career, this will be the relationship you will want to focus on the most. However, this can sometimes cause you to overthink and forget that your manager is a human just like you.

Remember to be open with your struggles and work that you may not be too fond of. It is the best way to find the balance you want at work.

Look for a Mentor of Some Sort
