Ever since coming off my leadership course, the role of leadership has taught me much. Many of us believe that people become leaders because of the type of personality they have, and this is true. However, we neglect that they also become better because of the leadership they must perform.

Here are the three lessons leadership has taught me.

1. Less Is More

It can be easy to say much but communicate little. At the start of my leadership, I would often find myself going overtime in meetings and not communicating effectively. However, less is often more, and when communicating, we should focus on what message we want the person to leave with.

And this is the same with life. When we try to do too much, we lose focus and burn out. Less is often more when we seek to be our best selves.

2. Vulnerability Can Be a Strength

As a leader, being vulnerable can be challenging. Many people are looking to you to guide them and see you as an authoritative figure. However, vulnerability can also bring people together through the emotion of empathy. It is through vulnerability we can build stronger communities.

3. Life Is Not Black and White
