How to Be Confident When You Are Unsure
The title seems quite counterintuitive. After all, if you are not feeling too confident, you must be unsure about something. And although that is true, our incompetence does not need to remain incompetence.
In this short, I will like to highlight two ways you can still be confident in your incompetence. And they both require you to be able to be vulnerable with those around you.
The Power of Taking Initiative
The reality is, no one wants to be the dumbest in the room. So, when the opportunity arises to ask a “stupid” question, people tend to shy away. However, doing this also means you shy away from solving your lack of knowledge.
Taking initiative to ask questions is acknowledging that you are unconfident and are not sure what to do next. By doing so, you fill your knowledge gap but also show everyone in the room that you are not afraid of learning something new.
Learning to Be Happy in Your Incompetence
It can be hard to embrace our incompetence. When we are unsure and do not know things, we feel uncomfortable and a bit on edge. However, it is through not knowing that we can discover new things about ourselves and the world around us.
