As economic pressures continue to rise, our companies are being forced to take innovation seriously and carefully consider their workforce. In a world with many distractions, it can be hard to improve our performance at work, even if we desire to do so.

However, our performance is more than just what we do on a day to day basis. It is our attitude towards work and the mindsets we bring into the office. In this short, I will highlight one thing we can all do to improve our performance at work.

Paradox Mindset

A paradox mindset is:

“An indication of the extent to which individuals embrace and are energised by tensions.”

Although we are all aware of traits like resilience that help us through our challenges, we forget our attitudes towards these difficulties are essential. For the most part, we can find ourselves trying to avoid difficult situations rather than embrace and find value in them.

A typical example is our desire to simplify problems into yes or no answers. Due to our desire to move away from the problem, we try our best to get to the options right away rather than embrace the situation for what it is.
