Learning From Our Past Selves

Today, I found myself browsing through some of my old ideas. It was quite embarrassing, to say the least.

As humans, we continue to grow, and in that process, we become wiser, hopefully. This is why many of us tend to have regrets from decisions our past selves made.

Sometimes, we only know the weight of the mistakes our past selves made in the future, as some of them come back to bite us.

Nevertheless, it is amazing how much growth occurs in such a short time. It is hard to believe that I was a child ten years ago. I think the beauty of being human is that we are constantly in a stage of growth.

What Our Past Selves Show Us

When we look back at our past selves, we realise two main things. The first is growth. We can see how far we have come in understanding and experience. And this growth aids us in our day to day survival and decision making.

The second is how far we probably still have to go. The gap in knowledge and experience you have created between your present self and past self will more than likely be a similar gap between your present self and future self. We are always in a phase of growth. And can expect at every stage in life that we can still learn more. Therefore…
