We are often taught to not lie to others, but what about not lying to ourselves? It is a sad reality that we treat others better than we do ourselves. And lying to ourselves is one of the ways we do this.

Here are the three reasons why you should start being honest with yourself. Once I stopped lying to myself, I experienced growth unimaginable.

Self-Acceptance

We have got so used to comparing ourselves to others, self-acceptance is hard to come by. Being honest with ourselves allows us to accept the things we like and do not like about ourselves.

It is through honesty that we can become people that accept our flaws, rather than try to hide them.

Higher Accountability

It is easy to pass the blame to others, especially when things do not go our way. However, honesty gives us a chance to self-reflect on what we could have done differently.

Being honest will humble you and give you the opportunity to improve from situations that did not work out.

Better Relationships

Our relationships require open communication. Without honesty, our relationships fall apart. As highlighted, lying to others will only break our relationships…
