It is easy to get caught up in thinking that good leaders come by being taught by good leaders above them. Although this thinking is not false, it leaves out the possibility of allowing others outside of high leadership positions to contribute to the conversation about what makes a good leader.

In this article, I highlight two reasons why every worker inside an organisation can start building good leaders. It takes more than just experience to create strong leaders.

Leadership is an Art

When we treat leadership as a science, we make leadership a bunch of right and wrongs. Although there are clear things we know we should not do, leadership is mixed with personality and other components based on the situation.

When we see leadership as an art, we can begin to appreciate the perspective of others. Every outlook on what people think makes a good leader is important as it says something about leaders as a whole.

The Leader You Are Is More Than Do’s and Dont’s

We are a sum of all the good leaders we have had in our lives. We do not choose to mirror one of our leaders perfectly. Instead, we take time to think about the good traits in all of our leaders.
