Aiming for higher goals can sometimes lead to anxiety and unnecessary pressure. Many who are against doing this often use these two disadvantages to explain why setting realistic and attainable goals are better.

I agree that our goals should be realistic and attainable. However, we are bad predictors of our potential. And in this short, I will explain why aiming higher, when done correctly, betters your chances of success.

Why Aim Higher?

Many people believe that aiming higher allows you to have a safety net just in case you fall below. However, aiming higher is not about being safer, although it can serve this purpose.

Archers aim higher to ensure they can hit targets further away from them. Although it is a little harder to aim for, it allows you to get further, and that is the same with life.

When we aim higher, we push ourselves to develop skills and qualities that allow us to go further than our intended goal. And that increases our chances of success.
