The Dilemma of Life

I posted a quote on my Instagram that went something like this: “Humans neither wish to live or die.” After asking some people for their thoughts, I decided to go on my own journey to figure out what it meant for me.
Many people find it easy to understand no one wishes to die. There are two reasons for this. The first being that no one knows what happens, in other words, fear of the unknown. Secondly, life is the only conscious state we have ever known.
None of us knows what it was like before we were born. We had zero conscious. However, with life, we can create experiences and feel things.
So life is always more desirable than death. So, why would the philosopher say that no one wishes to live? For most of the evening, I found myself wrestling with this thought. And I now believe that the quote is painting our unfortunate dilemma of life.
The Unfortunate Dilemma
We all know that we have one life to live. It is even sadder to think that this life could end at any moment, but none of us knows when. It is a scary thought for anyone to ponder.
So, with this at the back of our minds, we could do what all those motivational speakers say. Which is, “We must live every day like it is our last”. You know…
