We are now entering a world where those who influence are young. Many of the famous people online today are below the age of 30, and they influence both the young and old.

Although it is good to see the ambitions of young individuals, there are also problems with this model. The rise of younger influencers is affecting the way young people see school and education.

So, in this article, I discuss briefly the problems with this model to open the discussion on what education should do. After all, the students they are teaching are now becoming the teachers of society.

The Young Leading the Young

As younger influencers move into the economy, they will impact those within their age range. As a result, this could easily lead to false information being shared as young individuals do not have the experience required to consult their peers.

We are already seeing much falsehood being shared on social media by young individuals today. And it is part of education’s duty to protect from false information. So, this problem will need to be tackled in a way that allows for freedom of speech whilst also protecting against false information.
