Two Things You Can Do to Promote Diversity at Work

Diversity goes beyond what we can physically see. For the most part, diversity is often painted as an image of many different cultures happily working together. However, diversity goes way beyond that.

In fact, the most productive diversity is found in the things that we can not visibly see. In this short, I seek to highlight two ways you can build a culture that embraces diversity at work.

1. Focus on the Stories of Others

Who we are and who we wish to become is hidden in the stories we tell ourselves and others. We are all living our own stories and have unique stories of our own.

By creating a space where unique stories can be heard, you promote storytelling. Do this by being open with the stories you have to share and continue to encourage others to share their own journeys.

Diversity is found in the unique journeys we have trod.

2. Embrace Change

Many of us are resistant to change. However, diversity is not stagnant. It is a constantly evolving goal that seeks to push the company towards a better future.
