It can be hard to know what to sell as a writer, especially when so many ideas are chucked at you. People tell you to create a podcast, start a youtube channel or use affiliate marketing.

However, although there is money in all of these, none of these feels directly applicable to writing. So, here is why it has become hard to sell as a writer, and what you should do.

Writing Is a Means of Communication

Unlike many products in the market, it can be hard to define what you sell as a writer. However, you have a product, and you also have somewhere your customers can get it.

Your product is the message you communicate. And where your customers get it is in the form it takes in writing. That form could be a book, newsletter, article or E-book.

There are many means by which you can distribute written communication, and finding the best one for you is important.

Sell Your Writing

As a writer, the best product you offer is your writing. Yes, you can become a YouTuber or podcast host, but these two things are not writing. They are different means to communicate.
