Why You Should Find Your Purpose as a Writer

Having a purpose for your writing can give you a better sense of direction. Although we can all experience certain benefits of writing, identifying the motivator behind your writing is essential for two reasons.

You Know What Results to Focus On

We all define success for ourselves. However, it can be easy to get caught up in pursuing the success of others. When we do this, we can lose sight of the results we care about as a writer.

Knowing what you are writing for gives you a clear indicator of what you care about. How you define success for yourself comes from your purpose for writing. And knowing what success means to you allows you to streamline your writing towards that.

You Can Build a Loyal Readership

People tend to follow those who have a clear message. As a writer, all I do is share messages. Knowing your purpose as a writer allows you to make your message clear and signal to your readers what you want them to take away. You also build a brand around your writing that increases your authority in your chosen field.
